Buddhism recognizes no creeds whose uncritical acceptance is expected of its followers. Instead the Buddha enunciated certain basic laws and truths whose veracity he invited his followers to test for themselves. One of the traditional epithets of the Dhamma is "ehipassiko" (meaning literally "come and see") which is an appeal to the empirical verification of the Dhamma. Thus Buddha encouraged one to question and test his Teaching before accepting it.
Below is a children song, "Ehipassiko" which explained the view point of the Buddha when coming to accepting Buddhism.
Ehipassiko - "Come and See" Lyric:
Ehipassiko come and see you’ll know
The Teaching of Peace the Teaching of Love
The Teachings of the Buddha is for all
Who want to be free forever more
But don’t just believe Investigate
Do not simply accept what you hear or see
Not even if it is uttered by ME
So don’t just agree you’ve got to verify
When you know that it’s good
And it’s praised by the wise
Then live up to it the rest of your life
